A Double Dutch Thank You!

Hello fellow bloggers!  How is you day going today?

I love doing fancy fold cards so thought I'd share one with you today!  

DOUBLE DUTCH FOLD

You will need TWO panels for this card.

Panel "A" is 4-3/16" x 9"  ... scored at 5-1/2"

Fold at the score line and set aside.

Panel "B" is 2" x 8-1/2" long and scored at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8"

Fold at score lines.

The lower portion of Panel "A" will be adhered to the INSIDE of Panel "B" and the sides will fold in to give that 'door' effect.

That is the basis of the card design ... now you can decorate it to your needs & liking!

I have created a THANK YOU card using TWO of Shelly's Images.

"Basket" and "Thank You Sentiment"

 Here is a peek at the inside of my card.

I've added a simple SU verse onto a Spellbinder Classic Circle panel. And finished the inside bottom with a little floral stamp by Repeat Impressions.

 Here's a little closer view of the detail.

I created my decorative panel for the front cover of my card then printed Shelly's "thank you sentiment" onto it.  I've colored the basket with Prismacolor markers then added Prima flowers with Kaiser pearl centers, Wedding satin flowers from JoAnn's and created my greenery using the MS 'branch' punch and the Cheery Lynn Designs B119 'Tropical Leaves' die.

Welcome to TUESDAY and 

another fabulous challenge at CAN YOU DIG IT!

Today's challenge theme is 

WHERE'S THE COLOR?

I found inspiration from this photo that Michelle offered to us from Pinterest.

I chose to use the adorable 'lampshade' digi image available at the CYDI Store.  You'll want to be sure and pop on over and check out all the cute images ready for you to purchase and create with!  So, without further ado ... here's my creation . . .

The background dp is from GinaK and I have generated my own sentiment on the computer using Word software.  Coloring was done with Prismacolor markers and Joann's Whisper Strokes markers.  My flourish is a Cheery Lynn Designs (B147) Olive Branches die and I've added a touch of sparkle to them with gold Stickles.  The corner flower is from Prima and the gold center is a Stampendous Diamond Dot.

Fancy Fold Cards

Happy Monday Everyone and thanks for stopping by today!

WOW!  Can you believe it ... I have just reached 500 followers!  I am so thrilled!  In fact, I think that is a good reason to share some BLOG CANDY ... so be watching and I'll have something put together and posted by the end of the week!  YIPPEE and THANKS SO MUCH!!

This morning I was playing around with creating a few more FANCY FOLD cards to add to my stash and thought you might like to see them too.  I'm having so much fun making these cards.

TRI-SHUTTER CARD using Disney 'Little Mermaid' Stickers from EK Success.

(A few weeks back JoAnn's had all their Disney stickers on sale, 40% off and I grabbed up a variety of them with these tri-shutter cards in mind.)

The corner treatment is a die from Cheery Lynn Designs (B165) Lace Corner Dies.

The 'Especially for you!' is a $1 stamp by All Nite Media ... 

Prismamarkers were used to color...

Floral stickers came from my scrapbooking stash.

 Now here's a TRI-SHUTTER CARD for the guys!

I found this pack of 3D stickers (by Paper House Productions) at Archiver's the other day and the designer paper is by Recollections ... 'Outdoor Trees' ... purchased at Michaels (6 for $1).

 DOUBLE DUTCH CARD

was actually created by using up scraps.

The floral oval panel was from the lid opening on a Tissue Box Cover I made MONTHS ago and the BoBunny design paper was left from another project that hasn't been posted yet.  And you know we all have those scraps of ribbon laying around ... I thought the gingham checks looked cute with all the dots.

Joan's Gardens Challenge

Happy Sunday All!

I've been enjoying some quiet time in my 'cave' and would like to share with you what I've been up to!

This week at Joan's Gardens the challenge is a simple one . . .

CREATE A CHILD'S CARD

Well I did one the other day (which I showcased in my gallery over on SCS but will share with you here today) and decided to do yet another card for the challenge!

I'm just LOVIN' creating these tri-shutter cards and since I'd like to have a variety of them for my craftshow in the fall, I figure there's no time like the present to get started!!

Another creation I'd like to share with you started out as ONE creation but turned into ANOTHER ...  Have you ever had that happen??

It's really a pretty SIMPLE creation.

Birthdays and Enjoying Life

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I hope you're having a FABULOUS start to your weekend!  It's supposed to be another HOT weekend here in NE Ohio, USA so I just might have to hang out in my 'cave' a bit more today!  I do have a few things to share with you today so bear with me as it might be a bit of a long posting ...

This is the birthday card I made for the little girl next door who will be 8 this weekend.  She LOVES sparkle, the color PINK and big flowers.  She ALWAYS has a big flower in her hair so we got her a gift card from the Icing/Claire's Boutique store so she can buy more pretty, sparkly things.

I actually used the sketch challenge this week over on Splitcoast Stampers as my base for this creation and since I wanted to make a homemade flower for Emily (which I hope to turn into a hair beret later) I've put the card in a clear case instead of an envelope.  She'll think that's pretty special too!

You've heard me mention my wonderful husband several times here on my blog but you rarely SEE him because he does NOT let me take photos of him very often.  He's a real gem and I'm so glad that he remains cancer free and healthy enough to retire and enjoy life!  Thursday was such a BEAUTIFUL day (upper 70s - low 80s) that we took our lunch up into our picnic area and sat at the picnic table that he built several years ago and enjoyed the sunshine, cool air, squirrels scurrying about and the birds on the bird bath.

Just to the left of where Mark is sitting is a cherry tree that is just loaded with cherries this year!  I really need to trim some of the low hanging branches to make my mowing easier but if I do that, then I can't reach the cherries to pick & eat!  I think I'll just keep 'ducking' the branches ... don't want to miss out on these sweet treats!

SEE ... I told you it was loaded!!

They are small but very sweet.  Of course all the BEAUTIFUL ones are out of my reach ... hmmm, maybe I could drag the ladder up there and get enough to make a pie!  I'll have to think about that one!!

It's TRASH to TREASURE time . . .

. . . with my good friend Lana (Blest With Stamps).

If you follow my blog, you will know that Lana & I have gotten on this kick of going to the Goodwill Store and finding items that cost under $4 (we try to get the exact same item) ... then challenging each other to alter it without letting the other one know what style or color we are working with until the BIG REVEAL!

Well today we have another BIG REVEAL for you!

Here is what we are altering today ...

Now mind you ... this clock cost LESS THAN $4 (and it works!).

There are a few scratches in the lower left front corner but not bad looking as it is!

But wait till you see what I DID WITH IT ...

I had this idea in my head but then I decided to get hubby's opinion on it (since he's retired now and just sitting around the house ... lol).  So the original idea was MINE but the end result comes from HIS IDEA.

I still wanted to use it as a clock (since it worked fine) so the first step was to take it all apart (notice the little pieces were wisely put into a ziplock baggie) and draw out a circle on white cardstock to "MAKE A NEW FACE".  Well ... here is the finished product ... what do you think?

I just LOVE how it finally all came together!

I actually started out with ONE COMPLETE scene but that's when hubby said "why don't you make it for ALL FOUR SEASONS!"  So I got busy with my Eclipse Masking Medium ... Stampscapes ... Inks/Chalks and created a 'scene' onto my white circle.  

WELL HE SAID ... "that is nice but why not go one step further and extend your images so you can cut out the face and continue the scene out onto the front panel of the clock."

OKAY ... BACK TO THE WORKTABLE!!!

Of course this meant I had to do ANOTHER set of scenes ALL OVER AGAIN!!  But that was okay because I didn't really care for the 'summer' scene I had created on the first one.

Remember this all started from a BLANK PIECE OF PAPER ... here are some of the products I used:

Stamps - Stampscapes, Inkadinkado, Northwood, All Nite Media, Ala Art

Inks - Tim Holtz Distress ink, Versafine Ink

Accessories - Chalks, Prisma pencils, SU watercolor pencils, sponge applicators, makeup applicators, Eclipse Masking Medium,

I mention this only because I showed this to a lady who thought I had just taken a sheet of designer paper and cut & glued it in place ... Uh ... NO!  It was all done from scratch.

Although I was careful in my cutting & gluing around the outside edge, I still didn't like the 'unfinished' look so I glued Gold Elastic Cording (unstretched) around the entire outer edge with Art Glitter (dries clear) designer adhesive.

I must admit ... I'm really glad I ask for hubby's opinion ... although he teases me about my crafting and all the "stuff" I have in my 'cave' ... he enjoys giving me a helping hand now & then ... even if it is in the form of an idea!  (Would I ever be able to get him down here to make a card --- HEAVENS NO!  LOL!)

Now remember ... Lana (Blest With Stamps) has altered this same style clock and I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what she's come up with!  NO ... I DON'T KNOW EITHER!  All I know is that it's PURPLE ... Hmmmmm, curious!!!  So be sure to pop on over ... check out her project and leave her a little love while you are there!  I know that's where I'm headed RIGHT NOW!!!

Gee ... I wonder what project we'll work on next?

The Sisterhood of Crafters . . .

. . . is going in CIRCLES!

LOL!  That's right, the challenge today at The Sisterhood of Crafters is all about 

CIRCLES! 

(create a card or project with at least 2 circles)

I had great fun creating this card ... and actually had some difficulties!  But am pleased with the outcome.  

Back around Mother's Day when my daughter & I went to Amish Country for the day, I came upon a lovely sheet of 3D Motion 'Butterfly' Stickers at The Gospel Shop.  When you 'turn' them ... the image changes.  Below you can see how it changes to the 'OTHER' image on this particular sticker ... how cool is that!

Here you can see the combination of 'both' images ...

And here you can see more of what the 2nd image looks like.
(It was difficult to hold the card at the proper angle to get the full image with one hand & hold/click the camera with the other hand ... LOL)  But you get the idea!

I think I have pretty well COVERED the theme for our challenge by using 'circle' design paper from DCWV, a 'circle' sentiment from the JustRite 'Botanical Butterflies' clear stamp set and set both my image & sentiment into 'circles' cut using the Spellbinder Classic Circles dies.  My embellishments were created with the MS butterfly punch and the Cheery Lynn Designs B117S 'Fanciful Flourish' Small die.  The minimal amount of coloring was done with Prismacolor markers.  OH ...and though it's hard to tell ... the floral center of my sentiment panel was stamped twice, cut out and popped up with pop dots.

OKAY ... so I found a little more time to play and came up with another CIRCLE creation for today's challenge.  But this time, it's in the form of Bubbles & THE Bubbly.  I've used a fun digi image from Shelly's Images as my focus.

  My coloring was done with SU watercolor pencils & a blender pen.  Crystal Stickles was used around the rim of the glass as well as on the ocean waves.  The bubble background paper is from a DCWV 12x12 pack and the blue/white bubbles are vellum stickers from stickopotamus.com.

We have a sponsor for this week's challenge and since I STILL have a  LITTLE MORE TIME in my day, I wanted to be sure and have something to showcase an image from WONDER STRANGE ARTS.

 I've used scraps of paper from by scrap bin for the background and have colored my image with prismacolor markers.  I took the liberty of adding the 'tear drops' so it would go along with my sentiment.  The inside of the card says SO sorry!
I've used a 'Hole Punch' along the black/white paisley panels to add smaller circles and Spellbinder oval & circle does for the image and sentiment panels.

While blog hopping last evening I came across THIS Anniversary card created by Stamping Anja and couldn't wait to case it.  I've had this homemade flower sitting on my work table for a week and knew it would be perfect for this creation.

Using Up Scraps

Happy Monday Everyone!

I don't have any DT creations to share today, however, I was doing a little 'clean up' in my cave yesterday and decided to put some of the 'scraps' I had laying around to better use.  So I do have two creations to share ... hope you like them.

 The image on this first card was PART of a 'scene' I created for an altering project I was working on but then decided to 'switch gears' and went a similar but different direction with that project. 

It was a much larger scene but I decided to cut it down and use it on an A-6 card.

I created this scene using TH distress inks, Eclipse masking, sponge applicators and the Stampscapes Lighthouse stamp (220G).  The lighthouse has been stamped twice, cut out and popped up with pop dots.

Ooops forgot to tell you that the "Heaven Seems a little closer" sentiment is a rubber stamp by StampingSensations.com and the background sky was created using the Ala Art 'sky' rubber stamp.

My 'SCRAP' piece on this second card is the focus circle image.  It comes from the Our Daily Bread stamp set called 'The Mighty Sea' and after coloring with markers & chalk, I cut it down using Spellbinder classic circle dies.  The border punch is Martha Stewart ... as are the birds.

Joan's Gardens Challenge #21

Finally last evening I took a little crafting time and created a card for this week's challenge at Joan's Gardens.  Joan & Selma ALWAYS come up with the best challenges and Selma's samples are FABULOUS!  If you've never joined in on this challenge, you'll want to be sure to check it out!!!

I thought you might like to see a close up of the flower I made.  After die cutting the petals, I sponged them with the Momento Angel Pink die then proceeded to condition them with my white tool and black mat. You can see fabulous instruction on doing this over at Selma's Blog.  I was fortunate enough to be at the workshop a few years ago at Joan's Gardens when Selma taught us her technique on making these fabulous flower!

WOW!  Where does the weekend go?

It's a new week and that means CAN YOU DIG IT challenge time!

BUTTON IT UP

Now I must admit ... buttons are one thing that I rarely use as embellishments!  I tend to shy away from the bulky embellishments because they require hand stamping at the post office which costs more ... but I had fun in making my creation for today and I will just have to deal with the post office requirements!!

I am using 'Cultivating Cutie' from the CYDI store for today's creation and my sentiment is hand written!  The flower panel for my sentiment was cut from my button DCWV dp with the Tim Holtz floral die.  I rummaged through my 'Bucket o'Buttons' container and came up with the two red flower buttons that I used on her hat and the flower she's about to cultivate!  Coloring was done with SU watercolor pencils/blender pen as well as Prismacolor markers.

Joan's Gardens Challenge

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Well, I must tell you that the challenge at Joan's Gardens this week has GONE TO THE BIRDS!!  LOL!  That's right, the theme is centered around BIRDS and here are the other requirements:

Use a Bird Theme
Use a branch and leaves
Use Blue on your card
Use a frame

I took this challenge quite literally!  After finding this awesome Blue Bird image out on the internet, I thought it would be perfect for this weeks card creation.  My sentiment was created in WORD ... the leafy flourish is the new MINI Fanciful Flourish by Cheery Lynn Designs (B117S) and the flowers are Prima.  I have added a touch of sparkle using Stickles green on the leaves and blue for the flower centers.  Framing was also computer generated in WORD and I've matted it in SU old olive cardstock.

Retirement has already started here in the Pavlick house and it's almost as though the house knows Mark is going to be around all day and needs something to do with his time!  I say that because things are ALREADY FALLING APART!!  The towel bar fell off the wall in the powder room last night and while Mark was chasing a squirrel out of the flower bed this morning, the one railing section on the deck fell off!  LOL!!  Yep ... the Honey Do List is getting longer as we speak!!  LOL!!
