Saturday Spotlight - The Music of Your Soul

Well, here it is Saturday again ... you know what that means ... it's time for another fun-filled SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT with HIDDEN POTENTIAL Challenge! Today it's all about the "Music of Your Soul". Personally, I love music of all types but I probably listen to the most music at holiday time ... like now! I have it playing all day long whether I'm in my crafting room or working around the house ... it just envokes such wonderful childhood memories and makes me happy!
That is the reason for my "holiday" musical creation. The precious angel images I have used are from http://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/ and I've used Fiskar decal scissors to border them. The base card is Christmas Red cs, next panel is Candystripe from DCWV and the Musical dp is from The Paper Studio. After cutting the musical panels, I distressed-wrinkled and sponged with Ranger Vintage Photo Distress ink. For embellishments I have used the following: Michael's gold metallic thread, Offray red sheer ribbon, Kaiser red half pearls, K&Co. chipboard star and vintage lace which was a gift from one of my Stamp D'Amour friends.

Our sponsor this week is Paper Garden Projects. Just click on the link to get to their store and also check out their really cool blog HERE.

Look at what they are giving away to one lucky winner this week! Aren't those just the cutest images!!! OH ... and there's more ... here you can read it in their words:

I'm excited about being a sponsor on Saturday Spotlight and I'd like to offer all the readers a store discount. Just enter the code Satspot in the code box when you check out and receive an additional 10% off your entire order. The coupon is valid through December 19.

How awesome is that! Now don't miss out ... create a card/project that reflects YOUR favorite music and post a direct link over to Mr. Linky on the Saturday Spotlight Challenge Blog. I can NOT wait to see what you create ... this should be GREAT fun! Vicki sure comes up with some awesome ideas!!!

And PLEASE, don't forget to check out what my Diva Sistah's have created to inspire you!! I'm sorry to say we have lost a couple Diva's from the team. Susan & Debbie will certainly be missed ... but sometimes life gets in the way of our hobbies and we just have to do what's best for our family & personal lives. I am happy however to tell you that Jodi (Inked Inspirations), our guest designer, will be staying on to help us out.

*Vicki (creator/coordinator) ... *Chris (Coordinator) ... Boni ... Crystal ... Dawn ... Erin ... Jessica ... Maria

OH ... ONE MORE THING ... The Saturday Spotlight Diva's will be taking a little holiday break, so this will be the last challenge for 2009. We will be back on JANUARY 2nd for more Saturday Spotlight Challenge fun! Please mark your calendar's ... you don't want to miss out on the fun & prizes coming up in the new year!!!

Saturday Spotlight - Hats On!

Happy Saturday Everyone!!

I hope your Thanksgiving was as wonderful as mine!! It was so nice to have the kids here and just relax and enjoy each others company! Of course we ate "way too much" but that's what you're supposed to do on Thanksgiving ... right??

It's time for another Saturday Spotlight Challenge and today Vicki's challenge is all about HATS ON. We don't have a particular sponsor this week ... BUT ... there is blog candy available from the Spotlight Prize Vault for one lucky winner!! Also be sure to check out Vicki's Blog where she also has a small give away for an extra chance to those playing along in the HATS ON challenge. When playing our challenge, be sure to upload a DIRECT LINK to Mr. Linky over on the CHALLENGE BLOG and if uploading to other online galleries, please use the keyword SSHP09. We are so thrilled with the wonderful participation we've been having for our challenges and want to thank you for your continual inspiration and support!!

For my creation today, I chose to use these wonderful vintage images from online friend Kris Dickinson (Parkerquilter on SCS). Aren't they cute!! They are a product of Collagevisions. I've used my Fiskar's swivel craft knife to cut them out and positioned one in front of the other for depth. My sentiment is by The Cutting Cafe. I've used Nestabilities scallop ovals for matting and Kaiser half pearls for added color. The background paper is by DaisyD and the punched snowflakes are by Martha Stewart. For that added holiday sparkle, I've used silver Stickles around the edge and centers of the snowflakes.

I hope you enjoyed my HATS creation and please be sure to check out what the other Spotlight Diva's have created for you today ... these ladies continue to outdo themselves week after week ... what wonderful inspiration for us all!!!

We have no big plans ... doing some holiday decorating and maybe go out some place nice for dinner but other than that ... we're just happy to have each other to share the day with!! Mark is more & more like his old self everyday and that is certainly enough of a gift for me!!!! Thanks ... just wanted to share my good news!!

SSHP07 Saturday Spotlight - Masterboard

Happy Weekend Everyone !!!

It's Saturday and that means it's time again for a SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT with HIDDEN POTENTIAL Challenge. Today we are creating a "Masterboard". Using your stamps (any!) to create your own "masterboard" or your own designer paper to create several cards/projects at once...good way to get several holiday cards done! If you are unfamiliar with this concept, Vicki has a tutorial for you over on her blog, found HERE.

Our sponsor today is Digital-Ink Co. and they have provided the images used by our Design Team's creations. Be sure to upload your entry on the Saturday Spotlight Challenge Blog ... Mr. Linky ... for your chance to win and choose THREE free sets from Digital Ink Co. The images provided today are by three of the nine creators they have on board. Today's creators are Jules Junk, Whimsy Design Studio and Stitchy Stamps. Please be sure to check out all the awesome digi images available at the Digital-Ink Co. Store. The "pumpkin" images I chose to use today are by Whimsy Design Studio. I paired them up with one of the first stamp sets I ever purchased from Stampin' Up (Sweet Seasons).

My masterboard was created using the oak leaf image from another SU stamp set ... "Country Blessings" and Kaleidocolor "Autumn Leaves" ink. My Whimsy Designs pumpkins were perfect with this cute fall image and I've used Prisma color markers/pencils for my coloring. A little dimensional tape was used to pop up the front pumpkin for added dimension.

Please be sure to visit my Diva sister's for additional inspiration on this theme!!

*Vicki (creator/coordinator) ... *Chris (Coordinator) ... Boni ... Crystal ... Darlene ... Dawn ... Debbie ... Erin ... Jessica ... Maria ... Susan ... *Jodi (Guest Diva)

As always, thanks so much for stopping by today and I wish you a WONDERFUL weekend!

It's SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT time ...

.... are you ready??? Vicki has some really awesome challenges up her sleeve and this week is NO EXCEPTION. Oh yea ... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! We are expecting around 250-300 Trick or Treaters this year ... it's always great fun ... they really get into dressing up and some of the costumes are amazing!!! Now onto the challenge!!

This week's challenge on Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential is "IN SO MANY WORDS" ... that's right ... using your words/sentiments. We sometimes get so busy with the beautifully colored images, we forget what an impact the words can have on our creations! Here are a few suggestions: use words/letter to make a background, maybe you have some wordy background paper or a sheet from an old dictionary or book ... OR ... you can even use your foreground sentiment to make your own background ... the possibilities are nearly endless.

We have an awesome sponsor this week on the Saturday Spotlight Blog ... it's Prickley Pear and they have provided the DT with some awesome items to create with. Be sure to pop on over to the Saturday Spotlight Blog to see more info on this wonderful company.

For my creation, I have used one of Prickley Pear's sentiment stamps and stamped it over the designer paper to create my background. And check out this acetate image ... isn't it beautiful ... it is also by Prickley Pear and I've colored it on the "rough" side using Prismacolor markers. It's so nice how the background shows through this beautiful image. The sentiment and butterfly are also Prickley Pear and I chose to cut them out after stamping and coloring to add a little extra
dimension to my creation.

Now would you like to see the fabulous goodies up for grabs to the challenge winner this week???

WOW ... how about that!!! Awesome huh!!! Well ... what are you waiting for?? Look through all your sentiment/word STUFF and play along! I for one can NOT wait to see what you come up with ... this will be SO MUCH FUN! When you've completed your project, don't forget to go back to the challenge blog and add your DIRECT link to Mr. Linky ... if you're uploading to other online galleries, please use the keyword SSHP05. Now, if you are lost for inspiration ... you need not look any further than my VERY TALENTED Co-DIVAs. I wanted to list them for you here BUT Blogger is giving me some problems so if you would ... please use the links to each Diva's blog found on my sidebar ... uugh!!! ... (sorry about that)!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today ... I hope you are having a WONDERFUL weekend! Happy Stamping Everyone!

It's SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT time ...

[This is a prepost due to the fact that I'm on the road headed to Indiana to join in on Joan Fricker's Get Together ... sure hope this works like it's supposed to!]

Happy Saturday Everyone and it's time for another Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential Challenge! Are you ready for this one??? Today's challenge is TREAT CONTAINERS! How much fun is that!! Be sure to pop on over to the challenge blog for all the details and be sure to check out the other Diva's blogs (listed on my sidebar) for some amazing creations. Some ladies have even done tutorials or linked you to a tutorial. Thanks Ladies!!!

Now, on to my creations! Keeping in mind I need a LOT OF PRACTICE with these types of projects ... please be kind, LOL!!! The idea for this first Treat Container came from my own imagination (such as it is, teehee). I used a Giant Eagle Quart size storage zip top bag for my base container. Using a strip of cardboard covered with Halloween paper, I've made a flat bottom for inside the bag (see insert). Using my SU Top Note die, I created the topper then simply attached these adorable chipboard Halloween characters (gift from my friend Terri Snode, Terri's Cards 'n More) for decoration. A very SIMPLISTIC container but I have no doubt my grandson will LOVE it!!!

For my 2nd creation I went looking for more STRUCTURED help. A friend recently sent me an email with a link to Dawn's Stamping Thoughts blog and there I found TONS of creative ideas! While looking through the list, I noticed she had a Movers & Shapers Treat Holder video. I viewed it and used it as the basis for my Snicker's Holder here.

The papers I have used are from the Debbie Mumm Harvest & Holiday pack purchased at JoAnn's and the bat is another diecut chipboard given to me by my friend Terri. I've used Nestabilities Classic Ovals and Scallop Ovals for the window on the front, to expose the goodies available inside. The Snickers bars are inside a smaller zip top bag that I had in my stash from something I've purchased along the way (can't throw ANYTHING away you know, teehee)!

Well, that's it for my creations ... NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!! Be sure to DIRECT LINK your creation to Mr. Linky over on our Challenge Blog and when uploading to other online galleries, please use the keyword SSHP04. This week's sponsor is FireCracker Designs and they are generously giving away not one but TWO free stamp sets to this week's winner!!!

Good Luck everyone! I will have my laptop with me so first chance I get I'll be checking out what you have created and leaving you some comment love!! Have fun!!

It's SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT time ...

Good Saturday to you all!!! Are you ready for some fun??? Then please come join us on Saturday Spotlight today where we are MAKING A SCENE!!! No, not hoopin' & hollerin' ... but a scene in the card creating way!! Please be sure to check out what my fellow team mates have to share with you for more inspiration ... WOW ... such a creative bunch!

Now when I think of creating a SCENE ... my first thoughts go to my Stampscapes Stamps. Coming up with a scenic creation is a breeze with these images. They are also what I turn to when I need anything masculine ... can't go wrong with the "great outdoors" for the guys!!! There are actually 6 different images used in making this card and I'd like to share the steps taken in its creation.

STEP 1: The center Rocks & Trees image was stamped again on either side of the main image using Versafine black ink. STEP 2: Next the sky was stamped using a Sky image by Ala Art using Soft Sky ink. STEP 3: Using a large sponge pod and More Mustard ink ... I created the evening Sun. STEP 4: Stamped the Flying Geese in the sky using Versafine black ink. STEP 5: Stamped the Fisherman in the water using Versafine black ink. STEP 6: Created more water in the foreground using the Water/Sand image and Versafine black ink. STEP 7: Using SMALL sponge pods and various inks, I've done the coloring in of the trees, rocks & water. FINAL STEP: Stamped the Sentiment using Really Rust ink. The sentiment reads: In the Woods We Return to REASON & FAITH.

This weeks sponsor is SQUIGGLEFLY. Squigglefly is a digital stamp company with several talented artists to provide a HUGE variety of images suited for just about any taste you have! If you've not tried digi's yet, no worries, there are FREEBIES that you can try before you buy! PLUS, they have tutorials to help answer any digi questions you may have along with a very supportive network of people that would be happy to help you out!

THE TIME IS HERE ....

for the new SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT WITH HIDDEN POTENTIAL challenge! Are you excited??? I know I sure am and can't wait for you to see what the DT has been working on and what Vicki (basement stamper) has in store for you in the weeks to come!! So PLEASE check out the Challenge Blog and play along! I promise you will find inspiration.

The basic philosophy behind our challenge is as follows:

To join in the fun, please post your project on your blog with a link to our challenge, then leave us a comment with a direct link to your creation so we can check it out!!If you don't have a blog, you can always post your project to an online gallery (please use keywords: SSHP01, etc.) We want everyone to be able to participate, all are welcome!ALL styles of artwork are welcome and combining challenges with our challenges are welcome. Please feel free to use any media/companies you like to work with! (We just ask that you create something NEW for each challenge.) We all feel that everyone has something to share and we can all learn from each other! Being different can be a good thing!

With that being said ... here is today's challenge. Make a creation with a Halloween theme using NO Halloween images! Get creative and think of using Halloween colors and images you can "turn into" something for Halloween.

Here is what I've come up with ...

As you can see, I have used the circle from the Hero Arts Friends stamp set to create my "pirate moon". Stamped in summer sun ink, edged with pumpkin pie ink, diecut using Nestabilities (classic circles) and matted with basic black cs. The pieces for the eyes, nose & mouth were punched with an EKSuccess pumpkin punch. A smaller Nestie circle created the patch and the a round tip black marker was used for the "bands" that hold on an eye patch.

Papers used were basic black, pumpin pie and homemade background paper created by sponging various inks (old olive, pumpkin pie, really rust & summer sun) onto a piece of white cardstock. Tearing, distressing and faux stitching added texture to the panels. The sentiment is by Vap! Scrap and stamped with Versafine black ink and embossed with Detail Clear ep.

Please be sure to stop by the other DT members blogs for even more inspiration.
