Make The Cards Challenge #24

 

 Welcome back friends!

It's time for a new challenge over on  Make The Cards Challenge.

Today we are having a color challenge ...

 

And a new term begins today which means HELLO to a few new members and GOOD-BYE to a few others.  Here's our 3rd Quarter DT group:

 

 Believe it or not, I struggle with color challenges!  Half of my brain keeps going to a simple color block design but the other half says "NO! ... you can do better than that!"  So while going through my MANY design papers I came across this awesome Amy Designs 'Underwater' 6x6 2-sided pack and found this beautiful sheet. 

 

It's bright colors on one side and the same design in muted colors on the other side ... pretty cool.  If you look closely, you will see all four of these colors are within the design.  I've added a dot of each color using Nuvo Crystal Drops across the top of the sentiment panel just as a color reference.

The scuba diver was one of eight images on the flip side of the 'sand panel' so I did a bit of fussy cutting and popped him up to accent the sentiment which is from Stampscapes.

Sisterhood of Crafters - Embossing

 

Hello my friends!

Today I have a card for the new challenge over on The Sisterhood of Crafters!
You'll want to come join in the fun!  Our theme today was chosen by Sistah Debbie and that theme is:

EMBOSSING
(Heat or Dry)

 I have had this Sue Wilson Creative Expressions 'Fanciful Flowers' (EF3D-043) 3D embossing folder

 for a few month now and thought it would be perfect for today's theme.  These beautiful 3D embossing folders make it quick & easy to create a card for ANY occasion!
I've used two stamps today also ...
Simon Says Stamps 'Friendly Flowers' (sss202186c)

 

and, Pretty Pink Posh 'Thoughtful Greetings'

 

 

The flower was stamped on a scrap of white card stock, fussy cut then popped up on the sentiment strip.  VIOLA!  Card is done & ready to mail!

 I was really surprised to see I didn't have that many gingham designer papers to choose from for today's creation (hmmm will have to do something about that!  lol) but I did locate this Carta Bella 'Flora' 6x6 paper pad in my stash which had this orange gingham and actually had a sentiment panel that matched ... how great is that!!

 Diane has this fabulous prize offered to one lucky winner.

 The flowers on the front were fussy cut from the back panel of the paper pad.  Black Nuvo Crystal Drops were also added to the inside to tie in with the black sentiment on the front.

Turner Syndrome Awareness Card Auction

I had a lot of fun today playing with my Ken Oliver Color Burst powders to create my background panel!  The image I found online and my witch in the corner is a die from Rubbernecker Stamps.

Mix It Up Challenge - Aperture any shape

 

Hello my friends!

A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.

Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

 

  Anything Goes + Aperture (any shape)

 

 

I decided to base my card on snow (you know, the Christmas in July thing lol) and went with a snowflake shaped aperture.  Your thoughts??

My card is A2 in size.  My usual is A6 and upon completion, I realized I could have very easily gone with either size for this technique.  I have used a VERY OLD Stampin' Up snowman stamp for the inside panel and my 'large snowflake' die is by Impression Obsession (DIE093).  I have cut a panel of acetate and placed on the inside back of my card front.

My sentiment is from Hot Off the Press 'Winter Wishes' stamp set.

Merry Little Christmas Challenge Time

Hello Everyone!

It's a new month and that means the start of a new monthly challenge

over on the Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog.

 

 

 I've used another very old stamp for today's card!
I have so many Christmas stamps and each year I can't help but
buy new stamps, dies, etc. leading up to the holiday
and forget all the beautiful products I already have in my stash!

Well, today I invite you to enjoy this lovely Penny Black stamp (circa 2011)
called 'Snowflake & Holly'.  The only color I have added is to the berries.

 For the sentiment I've used another old SU stamp and the die is from the
Sue Wilson 'Festive Collection' (#ced3019).

It's time for a new challenge over on  Make The Cards Challenge.

Today we are having a color challenge ...

 

 We are excited to once again welcome Helen Nile back as our guest designer! 

OH what fun I had creating today's card! 

I've used Tim Holtz distress oxide inks in two different ways ...
* with water to create my background panel (using watercolor paper)
* without water ... just sponges to create the panel for my embellishments (using plain white cardstock.

The colors I've used for the background are:
(with water spritzing) ... Mowed Lawn, abandoned Coral, Peacock Feathers & Salty Ocean
(sponged panel) ... all the same but WITHOUT Peacock Feathers

The dies I've used for embellishments/sentiment are:

Cheery Lynn Designs - Flip Flops & Board Shorts (#B499)

 

 and Impression Obsession Sentiment (DIE690)

I also die cut the sentiment from black card stock and off set to create a shadow.
