Carol's Sketch Fun #12 & Featured Stamper #132

I actually have 2 cards to share with you today!! First is my creation for the Carol's Sketch Fun #12 Challenge.

My main image is a digi I "WON" last week over on the SSDS Challenge! ISN'T HE ADORABLE~!! Here are the details on this card:

My second card was created for the Featured Stamper Challenge over on SCS yesterday. This week's featured stamper was Stamp Muse and THIS is her card that I chose to case. Of course I changed a few things (rules of the challenge, lol) and was quite pleased with the end result. What do you think??

“Digital Ink Co. Design Team Call”

The Digital Ink Co. is a new digital image store, opening its doors August 24, 2009. They are looking to create a Design Team with players who are friendly, creative as well as enthusiastic, who would like to help promote all of the fun and sweet images in the store. Now THAT sounds right up my alley!! If you think this sounds like something you'd be interested in, be sure to click on the link and check it out!!! Of course, there will be COLORING involved in this venture so here are a couple samples of my "coloring skills".

These are Tumbled Marble tiles which I purchased at Lowe's and turned into coasters. I stamped the (retired SU) images with Stazon black ink then colored in using Prisma pencils. A little chalk was applied around the outside edge and a matte clear coat sprayed over top as a sealant. Cork pads were adhered to the bottoms for furniture protection.

This little cutie is from Crafty Secrets and is called "Bouquet of Joy". She was stamped in Versafine black ink onto Whisper White cardstock then colored with SU watercolor pencils and blender pen ... then went back over with the pencils again. I've mounted it onto Whisper White which was cut with the Top Note die before mounting onto designer paper and a Whisper White base card. The organza ribbon is from May Arts and the paper flowers are from a Nestabilities floral die.

A Challenge Card & my First Tri-Shuttle Card

Happy Sunday everyone!! Hope you're having a WONDERFUL day! It's actually pretty hot outside today here in NE Ohio ... so I'm staying inside and "playing around". Here are a couple creations I've come up with.

First is my card for the PCP Heartwarming Vintage/Crafty Secrets Group Challenge (hosted every Sunday by "yours truly"). Today we're doing BORDERS. What ever border you'd like to use ... punches, stamps, stickers ... as long as they are used along with your Crafty Secrets producs, they quality for the challenge! It's great fun ... please come play along!!

I chose to use the Crafty Secrets "Kitchen Classic" stamp set for my card today. There are actually "2" border stamps in this set ... this one & a cherry scalloped stamp. I've used Creative Memories red gingham designer paper. Stamped both images onto the designer paper as well as whisper white then cut out the designer paper pieces I wanted and adhered them to the white image. The sentiment stamp is not Crafty Secrets but I couldn't read who the mfg. was on the side ... sorry! I'm thinking of sending this card to a friend and inviting her out for lunch sometime next month after her kids are back to school and she can "breath" again, LOL!!

My second creation is my first attempt at the "Tri Shuttle" card. It's not fancy, but I'm happy with the outcome. I've seen these all over SCS and blogs but just hadn't taken the time to try it out ... figuring it would be "too hard" ... NOT SO ... these are relatively easy and look awesome when completed. My winter scene is a stamp by Impression Obsession and the sentiment stamps are a 4-piece set by Hero Arts. The designer paper I've used is by Rusty Pickle with a base card of Real Red cardstock. I colored my image using SU watercolor pencils & blender pen. (please click for a closer look) I hope this card inspires you to give it a try!!

I immediately thought of the "BIG Boys" and this is the creation I've come up with today!! Here are the details on my card:

I was so inspired by this challenge (and realizing I really don't have any "Little Boy" images) I purchased this little guy yesterday ... made a card last evening and had to share it with you all! Isn't he cute ... and such a "BOY!" LOL!!

Rember, you can "click on any of my images for a closer look". This little guy is by Art Impressions and I've colored him using SU watercolor pencils and blender pen. I've handwritten the sentiment since I didn't have a coordinating stamp and it was 11:30 pm and didn't feel like computer generating one!! My Bad!!!

The background paper I created using my Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder and double embossing. Not familiar with double embossing?? Let me know and I'll do a post on it for you! Very easy and looks awesome!! I added Crystal Effects to the frog to make him shiny (you can probably see it if you click on the image) don't know that you can tell here! Thanks for taking a peek!! Stamp Simply #100 - Birthday Party

WOW ... CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!

Sharon has reached #100 challenges ... now I'd say that calls for a CELEBRATION!!! And, that's exactly what Sharon has in mind for today's challenge! Here is my Birthday Card to Sharon! Congratulations lady ... you are an inspiration to us all!

Sharon's cards always seem to have such clean, crisp lines and look awesome. So that's what I was trying to achieve with this creation. The background panel has been run through the Cuttlebug using a Sizzix embossing folder then added Stampendous red diamond dots to the swirls. I also used my Bow Easy which I bought from Sharon for my bow ... isn't it pretty!!! The ribbon is double sided satin by Offray. In keeping with the Stamp Simply format, I simply stamped this Inkadinkado image onto Whisper White cardstock with Versafine black ink and embossed with clear ep. The sentiment was filled in using a red Tombow marker and a few smaller diamond dots were added. (click image for a closer look)





Now for the "Special Recipe" I promised you all!!

But first, the story behind it!! YEARS ago when I got married (for the 1st time, lol) one of my dear uncles & his wife placed this little recipe in the card that was attached to their gift for the bride & groom. The wedding gift has long been gone ... the card was lost somewhere in all my moving around, but I have never forgotten the recipe. It went like this:


Recipe for Life

1 cup Good Thoughts
1 cup Good Ideas
1 cup Consideration for Others
2 cups of Sacrifice for Others
3 cups of Forgiveness
2 cups of Well Beaten Faults

Mix these thoroughly and add tears of joy and sorrow and sympathy for others. Flavor with little gifts of love and kindly services. Fold in 4 cups of prayer and faith to lighten other ingredients and raise the temperature to great heights of living. Do this daily and you will always see the good in others and the world will be better for it.

Although the original card has been missing for years ... this recipe has stuck in my head (and heart) and I try to live by these words that were so lovingly given to me so many years ago!!

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #14

It's time for another MIDNIGHT MADNESS SKETCH CHALLENGE ... In fact, I'm late!!!! Here is this week's sketch we had to play with ... isn't it great!!







With seeing all the fall cards that are popping up on blogs ... I decided to create a Thanksgiving Day card. This image came to me as a gift from one of the Stampin' D'Amour gals ... I just LOVE the vintage feel of this little guy!! My designer papers are Pixie Press and Paper Pizazz and the card base is Mellow Moss. All the matting was done with Chocolate Chip and the picket fence was created using the Martha Stewart picket fence border punch on Very Vanilla cs then sponging with Ranger Vintage Photo distress ink. The sentiment is from the SU Country Blessings stamp set and the pumpkins are from the H&M (Beverly Cole) Old Fashioned Hayride stamp set. The pumpkins were stamped onto Pumpkin Pie cs with Versafine sepia ink then cut out with a swivel craft knife and popped up with dimensionals.

Color Throwdown #55

Better late than never they say!!!!





Yesterday was a busy day and the colors for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge had my brain in a whirl ... so after much thinking and pondering, I finally came up with a design. What do you think??? Kraft is my LEAST-favorite color

/cs to use so I used it as my base card and created with the other colors.





My main image is by RubberCottage.com ... the sentiment is by Rosebud Rubber Stamps and the dragonfly comes from the Stampin' Up "Infinite Goodness" set. I stamped the image onto Whisper White cs with Versafine black ink then clear embossed. I sponged over the image using More Mustard and Summer Sun inks then wiped with a clean cloth. The flowers were colored in with American Crafts gel pens. (click for larger view)

Basic Grey Challenges ... Week 1

The 1st challenge over on the "new & improved" Basic Grey Challenges Blog is a sketch challenge by Tara G.

(Don't forget there are some new rules over on the blog and they are now a fortnightly challenge blog ... next challenge will be Aug. 22).

I have been wanting to use this Basic Grey Periphery paper for a very long time and this was the perfect opportunity!! Other than this awesome paper, I've used the following items:

1) a Bazzill paper flower with Making Memories brad,

2) Darice matte gold ribbon,

3) EK Success tag punch,

4) SU warm words for sentiment

5) Gold Pilot Marker for edging on all panels, and

6) sponge, mellow moss ink, JoAnn's wax cotton cording and swivel craft knife.

Happy Birthday Frankie ..

Today is our Son-In-Law, Frank's birthday! Frank is an awesome, fun-loving guy as well as a good husband & Dad!! My grand-daughter, Morgan texted me the other evening to let us know that they were planning on going to Quaker Steak & Lube for dinner on Sunday evening to celebrate Frank's birthday along with their good friends, The Mashburns and wondered if Pappy & myself would be up to joining them. Mark, of course, was a bit apprehensive but by the time we had to leave, he felt he would be okay (yippee!!). What a fun time!!!



We bought Frank a new personalized leather guitar strap for his guitar. He has a band called "Driving Force", and several guitars, so we knew he'd get good use out of this gift.


Besides his love for music, he also has a "need for speed"! Frank races a '67 Camero on the 1/4 mile dragstrip at Quaker City Raceway in Salem, Ohio. It has been a family affair since the kids (my grandkids) were little ... now THEY are both racing. Difference is they race Jr. Dragsters and only go 1/8 mile. With his love for racing ... there is always a need for repairs ... hence his second gift ... a gift card from Summit Racing, where he can always find what he need + more!!!


Here is a photo of Frank coming off the starting line ... "go git 'em Frankie".

The evening was short for us, but we had so much fun in just those couple of hours. Their friends the Mashburns are wonderful people! Dr. Medford Mashburn is an amazing person! And yes, he is a real doctor and an awesome one at that! If you have time to do some soul-searching reading, check out his blog ... The Journey Learned ... you won't regret the visit!! His lovely wife, Sandy is such a joy to be around and their two sons Jack & Travis came to celebrate Frank's birthday too!! It's always healthy to laugh and believe me, we had a heaping spoonful of laughter at this gathering!!! Here's a couple photo's to show you why ...

The waitresses from the restaurant all came out to sing Happy Birthday to Frank ... just like they enjoy doing for everyone on their birthday. But of course Frank made it extra special when while they were singing ... he held up this package which had his name on it so they would know to sing "Happy Birthday Dear Frank" Happy Birthday to You!! We all cracked up laughing ... what fun!!!

Blog Candy with a CAUSE ...

Just this morning I heard about a blog posting through my new friend, Penny of Penny's Challenges and here's the title:

Comfort a Military Spouse and WIN some Blog Candy!

Intrigued??? What a super great idea this lady has and I certainly want to be a part of it!! Penny put it into words so well, I decided to "borrow" ... here's what Penny had to say:

having a blog candy. But not just any regular old blog candy. This one has a

Featured Stamper Challenge

Every Sunday over on Splitcoaststampers (SCS), there is a Featured Stamper Challenge. Where one lucky SCS stamper is chosen to be honored that week and the rest of us visit their gallery and choose one of their cards to case. What fun ... and a good way to take the time and visit other crafters galleries.




Today's Featured Stamper is Joanne (SleepyinSeattle). Joanne has a wonderful gallery chocked full of awesome creations and projects! THIS IS THE CARD that I chose to case today. I kept her basic layout but pretty much changed everything else.

Stamps: Inkadinkado, Serendipity, Verses Rubber Stamps (inside), Penny Black (inside), AMuse (inside)

Papers: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Basic Grey (sugared) dp

Inks: Versafine black, Pink Pirouette (inside)

Accessories: Spellbinder Nestabilities (ovals & scallop ovals), Basic Grey half pearls, Bucket O'Buttons, Prima flowers, SU scallop border punch, Offray grosgrain ribbon, SU watercolor pencils and blender pen, dimensional tape



For the inside of my card I've used a scrap piece of the Basic Grey sugared designer paper which I've punched with the SU scallop border punch to embellish the top. I've stamped the Penny Black butterflies in Versamark and again in Pink Pirouette before stamping the Verses Rubber Stamp sentiment on top with Versafine black ink. The little happy birthday sentiment is by AMuse.

On a different note:
Through out my DH's cancer journey and stem cell transplant over this past year, you folks have helped to keep my mind occupied and given me so much support! Several have asked how my husband is doing these days since I've not been posting an update every whipstitch. Well, even though he's still on that long road to recovery, we were thrilled last week to hear the results of his latest PetCT Scan --- ALL CLEAR ... NO SIGNS OF CANCER!!! Praise God!! Thank you again for all your prayers and support! God Bless You!!

It's All About the "B's" ...

... over at the Heartwarming Vintage Crafty Secrets Group of Paper Craft Planet (PCP) today!!

Good morning!! I have the pleasure of hosting a weekly challenge over on PCP in the HVCS Group and today we're doing our ABC's ... well, really just the "B's". That means using items on your card or project that begin with the letter B. Pretty simple huh!! If you have Crafty Secrets products ... please come join in on the fun!!!

Here I have used the Crafty Secrets Seaside set to create my Beach scene. Within the beach scene there is a Bucket and I've put some Birds. Of course this is all created and colored in shades of Blue and these adorable Doodlebug Sugar Coated Brads add a nice touch. The papers I've used are from the Crafty Secrets Earthy paper pack, the ribbon is black satin from Darice and the starfish is from the Seaside set and after stamping with Versafine Sepia ink onto very vanilla cs, I've used a swivel craft knife to cut it out and dimensionals to pop it up.
