Mix It Up Challenge - Distressing

Hello my friends!
A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

Anything Goes + Distressing
(either ink or tool)

Needless to say, being an overachiever at times, I chose both!  LOL!

I had a narrow strip of watercolor paper laying on my adjacent work table
so I thought that would be a good starting point.  So I grabbed the first
three TH oxide distress inks from the stack and created this panel
as the base for my card.  The three colors I grabbed were:
Wilted Violet
Twisted Citron
Chipped Sapphire

After getting the colors the way I wanted, I spritzed with water and blotted with a dry towel, then I took a wide artist brush and splattered white watercolor over the entire panel.  Before distressing the 3 sides with a handheld TH distressing tool, I die cut the right side with an old Sizzix Card Creator edges die set called 'Scallop Borders 2'.

My vertical sentiment stamp is an OLD SU stamp set (circa 2001)
called 'Vertical Greetings'.

I do hope you'll pop over to the Mix It Up Challenge Blog and join in the fun!
You have until 6 PM EST the last day of the month to enter!
I'm so inspired by the rest of our amazing DT
and I can't wait to be inspired by YOUR project!

As always, thanks SO MUCH for taking the time to stop by!

  3. Wowie, that's a fabulous background!! It glows! I also love the scalloped edge and the vertical sentiment. Those are hard to find, so it's good to hang onto this one from 2001. I don't think I've ever purged a sentiment set or a set with good sentiments in it.
