A Heart of GOLD ...

I just had to share this with you all because I am just so proud! You've heard me speak before in other posts about my granddaugher Morgan ... and again she has made her Nanna VERY PROUD. Let me explain ...
Morgan is a beautiful 17 year old young woman with a heart of GOLD!! She is a senior at Leetonia High School, Field Commander for the HS band, works with Hospice, took courses at Kent State over the summer to learn how to "sign" with hopes of going on after high school into Speech Pathology.
This is the time of the year in the High Schools for the annual Homecoming Game & Dance. Needless to say Morgan (Mo as we call her) could have her pick of young men to escort her to the dance but instead chose to make another young lady very happy.
Please meet Felicia! Morgan also races a Junior Dragster on the 1/8 mile track at Quaker City Raceway. That is where she met Felicia and became great friends. Felicia has Cereble Palsy. It goes without saying that unlike most senior high girls, Felicia has not had the opportunity to go to many dances. Well, "my Morgan" with her big heart changed that ... she invited Felicia to accompany her to the Homecoming Dance at Leetonia High earlier this month. They had a wonderful time and Felicia was thrilled to experience what every young girl should have the chance to experience ... her 1st high school dance!
OUR Morgan is growing into quite an extraordinary young woman and I know the Good Lord has as much a hand in that as do her parents. How blessed are we!!! Thanks for letting me share this little story with you. I'll have more "Morgan" news to come ... you saw my short post about the "Soogy Senior Night" ... well I just ordered photographs that were taken during that rainy evening by the local newspaper. When they arrive I'll share them with you. It does a Grandma's heart good to be able to brag to such a large audience, LOL!! Thanks Everyone!!

  2. Oh Darlene!!! I am crying reading this post. I got goosebumps when I saw the title of this posting, just because I knew that it would be a beautiful story. What a wonderful way to end my night, not only is she gorgeous, her inner beauty makes her the most stunning young woman I have ever seen. Thank you for reminding us about the important things in life. Hugs to Morgan from all of us mom, grandmas, aunties, sisters - she has made us all proud!!

  3. I am happy to add that by the end of the evening the other students at Leetonia were pulling Felicia onto the dance floor. She had such a wonderful evening. She loves to dance!!! Her happy spirit is contangious. Food for thought...Mo wants to work with "disadvantaged" people because they are always happy. In her words they have the most reason to be annoyed and grumpy, but they're always happy. Thanks for posting Mom...yes we are all very proud of Mo!!!

  7. What a totally amazing granddaughter you are blessed with. It is so heart warming to read about a young person with such a big heart. You are very fortunate to be a part of the witness of such kindness and compassion that is more often lacking in the youth of today. Congratulations to her parents and you her grandparents for raising such a fabulous young woman. Pat

  12. Darlene, this is truly a heartwarming story!!! You know you are very blessed to have such an amazing granddaughter. They both look absolutely GORGEOUS in this picture and I am sure that Felicia had the time of her life. You have all the right to be a proud Nana as this shows right here how your Mo was raised...don't judge follow your heart and she sure did follow her heart by taking this young lady to the ball instead of being taken by a young man. Hugs and blessings, Sabrina

  20. wow guys thanks for all the comments. i just love helping other people. i hate when i see people like MY felicia standing alone becasue people are to busy staring or shying away and talking about her instead of just giving her a simple hello and asking her if she needs a hand with anything. she is such an inspiration to me everytime i am at that race track and she is always smiling and making friends with every racer young old or in between. she can make a tree smile and that is not a very big stretch from the truelth. i love my girl to death she is like a sister to me.
