Friends

Hello FRIENDS!

I don't know about you, but I truly don't know where I would be in this world without my FRIENDS!  In fact, it was a very good friend who brought it to my attention that there's a fun new challenge over on the Staying Crafty with Hero Arts Blog and check out the theme . . .

She was right (thanks Diane), I just had to join in the fun!
Here's my card and it actually came together quite quickly.  I've only used ONE die set, TWO stamps and some Nuvo Crystal Drops.

This would make such a great note card!  I think I'll make up a 'set' of these cards in different colors of ink.  What do you think??

ACTUALLY, before I share anything more with you, I think I'll create another card that is similar but uses one of the saying in the Hero Arts 'Many Birthday Messages' set  I noticed I have.  Hang on ... here's a little music to keep you occupied until I get that card finished ... won't take long ... promise!

[**Whistling & Humming to the tune as I craft**]

Ok here ya go ... see that didn't take long now did it??  LOL
What do you think of this one??

I've used TH - Peacock Feathers Oxide Distress Ink for the edging on my 'white base card', the 'friends' background stamp and my Hero Arts focus stamp.  For a 10-minute card, I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

OH DEAR ... now which one should I share at the challenge blog??

Birthday Wishes

Hello Friends!

Well, let's try this AGAIN!
I had this post all written and lookin' good, clicked to Publish and POOF!  It disappeared!  Nothing but the title was shown on my blog!  What is up with that???  New Blogger glitch?  Who knows!  So let's try it again!

Here the card I have to share with you today and it all began with the sketch challenge over on the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge Blog.  Here's the sketch they are offering as inspiration ...

I've modified it slightly by using a square vs circle and added the butterfly but you can certainly see the basic sketch in my design.   And I'm happy to say I even finished the inside of this card (something I need to do more often ... I have a huge stack sitting here waiting for the inside to be completed, lol).

(Inside view)

Product used on this card:
Paper:  Penny Black 'Painted Blooms'
Dies:  Tutti Designs 'Scallop Stitched Nesting Squares', Memory Box 'Devine Butterfly' #98265
Punches:  Martha Stewart
Stamps: Stampendous (front), Hero Arts (inside)

Swimming by to say HI

Hello Friends!

In doing my blog commenting this morning, I spotted THIS fun card by my friend Doni High for the Little Red Wagon challenge which has a theme of creating your own background.  Well if you know me, you know I do enjoy creating background panels for my cards and 'making a scene' so to speak!  LOL  So here's what I've come up with . . .

I created this background a week or so ago for another project but then switched gears and set this aside.  I was simply a spray of TH Broken China Distress Spray that I got a little heavy handed (fingered I guess I should say) on so it didn't work for the other project but works great for an underwater scene for today's card.

The dies I've used are:

Sue Wilson Designs - Fillables Collection - Underwater Accessories

Frantic Stamper - Dies - Swimming Mermaid
Memory Box - Dies - Wandering Jellyfish

Paper Rose - Dies - Under The Sea Border

What a fun card to create and since I didn't have the sentiment I wanted,
I simply created my own on the computer and die cut it using a Tutti Designs rectangle set.

So there you have it !
Now I'm headed out for a bit since the weather is beautiful!

CAS Birthday

Hello again my friends!

I'm still practicing this 'CAS' style of design so here's another challenge I spotted and decided to play along in.  I'm referring to the AAA Cards Clean & Simple Challenge.

Now, I must admit this is a LOT of white space for me, but I actually like it and feel there are many ladies out there who rather enjoy the cleaner lines of a card such as this.  What are your thoughts?

I have used a very old SU stamp set called Toile Blossoms for my focus flower.
I then used Prisma pencils for the coloring and an Endless Creations Happy Birthday sentiment.

For the inside,  I've used another stamp from the same Toile Blossoms stamp set and my sentiment is from the Stampendous Friendly Phrases stamp set.

Ok, back to the drawing board (as they say).  I'm thinking I'll make a couple more cards like this but with different colors for the flowers.  AND . . . maybe use the smaller floral stamp from the set on the outside of the envelope ... YEP, I like that idea!!  LOL

Wishing you all an AMAZING remainder of your day!

Tutti Designs - Under the Sea

Hello dear friends!
Today's card for the Tutti Designs Store was created using a couple different dies that I think you'll love.  Summer time means it a time to dream of going to the beach/ocean for those of us who live in the midwestern states of the USA.  I'm lucky to have been able to walk the beaches of both the Pacific & Atlantic Oceans as well as cruise the gorgeous blue waters of tropical islands.  So that's where my mind went with today's creation.

Dies used today are:

TUTTI-445 Seashell Frame

TUTTI-531 Coral Reef Scene

I have used Navy card stock for my card base and have spritzed it with both Tim Holtz white & mermaid lagoon distress sprays.  The frame was die cut once but the coral reef scene was die cut three times and glued together for dimension.

Please be sure to pop over to the Tutti Designs Store and check out all of the fabulous dies available. Need more inspiration?  The team has something new to share on the Tutti Designs Blog  EVERY DAY MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY!

Pop in often and see for yourself ... what a talented group of designers!!

A few more CAS styled cards . . .

Happy Sunday All!

I have a couple more CAS (clean & simple) cards to share with you this morning.  I started them yesterday but didn't finish them until this morning.  Your thoughts??

I saw a card of similar style over on Pinterest by designer Chrissie and used it as my inspiration.  She has such a wonderful way with CAS design ... I could certainly learn a lot from her.  I still struggle with NOT adding MORE.  That 'less is more' saying just doesn't resonate with me most times ... lol.

For the Sue Wilson Petite Vinery and the Frantic Stamper Deepest Sympathy sentiment, I have used 4x6  panels of glossy white card stock along with alcohol inks (gosh haven't used them in years!) to achieve my colorful elements.

I've used shades of blue & green which would indicate this card would be used for a man but I actually think you could use it for either gender.  What do you think?  Can you see the shine on the leaves ... so pretty in real life!!

I have a second card to share today and this time I've made a 'slimline' card.  They seem to be the rage in the crafting world right now and fit into a legal size envelope.  My card base measures 8 5/8" x 7 1/4" ... scored at 3 5/8".  I've used a scrap of design paper for my background panel and I've had this HUGS sentiment die cut and laying around for quite awhile so finally gave it a home.  The only other thing I did to finish off this card was to add dots of Nuvo White Crystal drops to the centers of the flowers on the designer paper.  Viola ... ready to write a note to a friend and get it in the mail.

Even though I'm not sure my craft shows will take place this Fall, I think I'll make up some of these slimline cards for my sale box.  It's something a little different and since it doesn't require extra postage, it could be a good seller.   I'm sure you'll be seeing more slimline cards coming from me in the near future.

Well there you have it!

Enjoy your day everyone and PLEASE stay safe/healthy!
As always, thanks SO MUCH for taking the time to stop by!

CAS (clean & simple)

Hello Friends!

Today is a hot/humid day and since I didn't feel like going out into those temperatures, I decided to play in my crafting 'cave' where it is nice and cool (thank goodness for Air Conditioning). LOL

Many crafters have a particular STYLE to their card designs but as for myself ... I can't really pin point what my 'style' actually is!  I truly enjoy all styles and even though I'm better at some more than others, but I'm always trying to do my best and improve on those that are weak.

I have some friends that do an amazing job with the CAS Style (clean & simple).  Over the past year, I have been trying to create more cards in this style and would really like to become a DT member on a CAS blog so that's the direction I'm taking today.  I have actually created THREE cards in this style and I will share them in the order I made them ... which one is your favorite??

Card #1

I love using Stampscape Stamps ... especially to create cards for the men in our lives.  The outdoors stamps available from this company make it easy to create some amazing scenes.  Today I'm simply using ONE stamp and colored pencils.  I did add a Pretty Pink Posh (Encouraging Greetings) sentiment and the evening sun was created with a marshmallow sponge and some old SU ink.  This is a single layer card.

Card #2

For this card I've used a older Penny Black (Enjoy Life) stamp set and using my TH stamping platform have stamped it in various shades of green.  I then die cut it using a Tutti Designs Scalloped Stitched Nesting oval set.  My sentiment is from another Pretty Pink Posh stamp set (Simple Sentiments) and the butterfly is a very old Martha Stewart punch.

Card #3

My final card has a few more layers but still (I believe) keeps with the Clean & Simple card design style.  I have used scraps of card stock & design paper to create my flags.  Doing a bit of die manipulation to achieve the lengths I desired using the Sue Wilson Stitched Flags.  My sentiment is once again from the Pretty Pink Posh (Encouraging Greetings) stamp set.

I'm pleased with today's creations and I 'think' they all would qualify as Clean & Simple, but I will keep working at perfecting this style and might even throw my hat into the ring on a DT Call I spotted for even more inspiration and encouragement from those who have more experience in the style.
Wish me luck!  LOL
